Senior Inventory Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Inventory Accountant to join our growing Accounting team. In this role, you will take ownership of key inventory and cost accounting processes, ensuring the accuracy, timeliness, and integrity of financial reporting. You will play a critical role in month-end close, internal controls, and process improvements, while providing valuable insights to leadership to support Alto's continued growth. As a senior contributor, you will partner cross-functionally, drive automation and efficiency, and serve as a subject matter expert in inventory accounting. This position reports directly to the Senior Manager, Inventory Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the preparation and recording of journal entries for complex inventory and cost accounting transactions.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Prepare and present weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc financial reporting packages for senior leadership.
  • Analyze financial statements, general ledger data, and inventory metrics to identify discrepancies, trends, and risks, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and annual analytical reviews to validate account balances and support financial statement integrity.
  • Proactively identify and implement improvements in end-to-end inventory processes, with a focus on automation and scalability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting policies, and external reporting requirements.
  • Research complex accounting issues, provide clear recommendations in alignment with US GAAP, and document findings.
  • Maintain and update accounting policies, internal controls, and process documentation.
  • Support interim and year-end audits, preparing timely and accurate deliverables.
  • Lead and support ad-hoc projects and requests from management.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with a strong focus on inventory and cost accounting.
  • Advanced knowledge of US GAAP and accounting for complex transactions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing high volumes of inventory data across a large SKU base.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct variance analysis, identify root causes, and propose solutions.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency with accounting systems (Sage Intacct, NetSuite, SAP, Coupa preferred) and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills.
  • Demonstrated success partnering with cross-functional teams to provide financial insights and drive process improvements.
  • Strong attention to detail, a proactive mindset, and a team-first approach.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
  • Experience in public accounting (Senior Accountant/Senior Auditor) with GAAP compliance responsibilities.
  • Prior experience in healthcare or a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

Additional Physical Job Requirements:

Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal with monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, and reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions required to operate a computer that include the wrists, hands and fingers, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move light objects. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.

Salary Range: $112,000 - 140,000
