Senior Manager, Pharmacy Operations

The role of Senior Manager, Pharmacy Operations is responsible for overseeing the operational excellence, compliance, and performance of multiple pharmacy fulfillment sites within a designated region of the US. You will lead a high-performing team of Pharmacy Fulfillment Managers and serve as the strategic operator guiding execution across a multi-site network. Your key objectives include driving best-in-class patient experience, ensuring rigorous compliance with pharmacy regulations, fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and delivering on performance targets at scale. You will leverage your deep expertise in pharmacy operations, inventory management, last-mile delivery, waste elimination, and regulatory compliance to guide site-level leadership and align regional execution with Alto's national strategy. In this role, you will be responsible for driving the successful rollout of corporate initiatives across your region, collaborating cross-functionally to ensure teams are operationally prepared and positioned for scalable growth. Success in this position requires a seasoned leader with a track record of developing high-performing teams, influencing stakeholders at all levels, and consistently delivering results in a dynamic, highly regulated environment.

Job Description

  • Lead regional operational strategy, execution, and performance across multiple pharmacy fulfillment sites, ensuring alignment with Alto's strategic goals.
  • Develop, drive and monitor enhanced regulatory practices in accordance with federal, state and payer requirements.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing team of Pharmacy Fulfillment Managers, building leadership capability and driving succession planning.
  • Build tools and create resources to drive site-level success, and sustainable improvements.
  • Ensure sites consistently meet or exceed key metrics for safety, cost, quality, and delivery timeliness, while fostering a culture of operational discipline and continuous improvement (e.g., lean/Kaizen principles).
  • Oversee compliant and efficient inventory management, staffing, and space utilization in collaboration with site leaders.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to Recruiting and HR to attract, retain, and grow top pharmacy talent.
  • Leverage analytical skills to source and analyze financial and operational data to identify trends, manage costs, and drive efficiency and service improvements.
  • Act as a point of escalation for site-level extreme events, while proactively resolving challenges to ensure uninterrupted service.
  • Conduct regular audits and quality reviews to maintain inspection readiness and regulatory standing.
  • Support site launches and transitions related to expansion or restructuring initiatives.

A Bit About You

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy and a Licensed Pharmacist (RPh) in good standing with the applicable State Board(s) of Pharmacy
  • 5+ years of progressive pharmacy leadership experience, including multi-site management
  • Demonstrated success leading high-volume pharmacy fulfillment or lin operations
  • Expertise managing teams in a highly regulated, compliance-driven environment
  • Proven track record of managing and developing pharmacy leaders and diverse staff
  • Experience using data tools (e.g., Excel, Tableau, Looker) and a P&L to interpret operational trends and drive decision-making
  • Prior experience as a Pharmacist-in-Charge with accountability for regulatory interactions and audits

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Business Administration or Healthcare Leadership
  • 3+ years of regional or multi-site pharmacy leadership experience
  • Lean Six Sigma, APICS, or other operations/quality certifications
  • Deep knowledge of fulfillment workflows, courier logistics, and end-to-end pharmacy operations
  • Experience leading through change and scaling operations in high-growth environments

Additional Physical Job Requirements

Physical requirements for this role include the ability to work at a computer terminal with monitor, keyboard and mouse for extended periods of time, stoop, bend, and reach for equipment and supplies, make frequent repetitive motions required to operate a computer that include the wrists, hands and fingers, and lift, carry, push, pull, and move light objects up to 20 pounds. The role also requires the ability to effectively communicate through verbal interactions, discern auditory information, and visually perceive details to perform essential job functions.

This position requires occasional travel therefore you must be able to sit for extended periods of time on airplanes and/or in vehicles, lift and carry luggage independently, navigate long distances through airports and other travel locations independently, and adjust to different time zones and climates.

Salary Range: $132,000-165,000
