We believe travel makes us better. Launched in 2016 with one perfectly designed carry-on, we now offer a range of luggage and travel essentials for every journey. Together we create, innovate, and embark on this journey as a community of travelers, helping to make travel more seamless for everyone.
We are hiring a Strategy Manager to join our team. This position reports to our Vice President of Strategy and Business Development and will help take Away further by leading our next chapter of post-purchase innovation. This role will focus on building and optimizing programs that enhance the customer experience and operational efficiency across returns, resale, repairs, recycling, and beyond. From restructuring our warranty program to forging partnerships with external vendors, the Strategy Manager will own end-to-end workstreams that drive sustainable growth, extend product lifecycles, and strengthen customer loyalty. By combining strategic analysis with hands-on execution, this role will unlock new business opportunities that reflect Away’s long-term values and position us at the forefront of reverse logistics and customer experience.
You’ll assess and execute opportunities to enhance Away’s reverse logistics and post-purchase programs, including repairs, returns, resale, recycling, and other emerging business formats — with the goal of improving both customer experience and operational efficiency
You’ll lead the restructuring of Away’s warranty program, collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders to deliver a solution that is financially sustainable, operationally scalable, and customer-obsessed
You’ll develop and own end-to-end strategy workstreams — from sizing opportunities and conducting financial analysis, to building execution plans and project managing initiatives to completion
You’ll identify, evaluate, and manage partnerships with external vendors, such as third-party logistics providers and software partners critical to enabling our reverse logistics roadmap
You’ll help lay the foundation for future strategic extensions, including the development of broader loyalty and ESG initiatives that build on our reverse logistics capabilities and reflect Away’s long-term brand values
You are a strategic thinker and structured problem-solver, with a minimum of 5 years of experience in management consulting, investment banking, or in a strategy or operations role at a high-growth company
You are highly analytical, comfortable navigating financial models, business cases, and operational metrics — and able to turn insights into action
You are a skilled cross-functional collaborator and communicator, able to build alignment across teams, manage stakeholders, and influence at all levels
You are a detail-oriented and proactive operator, able to spot issues early, surface insights, and propose thoughtful solutions — not just problems
You are energized by complexity and ambiguity, excited to build, improve, and scale circular business models in a physical product environment like luggage and travel gear
You’re creative and innovative; you love to build great new things that are fresh and unique while staying on brand
You’re agile, and motivated by a fast-paced and ever changing environment
You’re passionate about transforming travel for all (but that’s a given!)
Excited to join the team, but not sure you meet all of the qualifications? Please apply, we’d still love to hear from you.
