Job Summary
The Senior Retail Environments Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic visual merchandising guidelines and retail environment standards that enhance brand storytelling, optimize the customer experience, and drive revenue across all owned retail touchpoints. Reporting to the Sr. Director of Retail Environments, this role will focus on creating scalable merchandising strategies, fixture guidelines, and in-store presentation standards to support Owned Retail execution. The Senior Retail Environments Manager will work closely with internal teams to conceptualize new retail formats, curate seasonal merchandising directives, and provide strategic recommendations that elevate Purple's in-store presence. Success in this role requires a strong balance of creative expertise and operational acumen. The ideal candidate must be adept at influencing stakeholders across various teams, driving alignment on visual merchandising initiatives, and ensuring consistency in execution across all retail channels. Additionally, this role will be responsible for developing comprehensive merchandising toolkits, training materials, and implementation guidelines to support field teams in executing at the highest level. As a strategic contributor, the Senior Retail Environments Manager will play a critical role in shaping the future of Purple's retail experience, ensuring that visual merchandising principles align with brand growth objectives and customer engagement strategies.
Job Description
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Prioritize all work with a focus on driving revenue, customer experience or moving the brand forward.
- Partner with Retail Environments Operations Specialist to establish the budget, seeking budget approvals from the budget owner for both expenses and CAPEX as required.
- Drive a successful merchandising program that is scalable.
- Finalize design/samples and take the final set of SKUs to the Retail Buyer to place an order with the vendor.
- Partner with the internal Marketing & Brand Strategy team to create assets and provide approval as required.
- Support events to ensure appropriate branding and visual merchandising support for Owned Retail.
- Must set priorities and organize tasks to completion ensuring all details are addressed.
- Ensure fluid internal communication across team and cross-functional partners.
- Establish & maintain a vendor partnership process that ensures seamless communication and execution.
- Ongoing evaluation of current strategy of Retail Environments processes, procedures, operational structure.
Required Skills, Education, Experience:
- College degree and or 5-7 years of relevant retail experience
- Travel requirements minimum 50%
- The ideal candidate should have in-depth knowledge of Visual Merchandising, thrive in a fast-paced retail environment, and have proven experience of effectively leading a team.
- Creative thinker that can collaborate while developing new plans, processes, and solutions.
- Excellent verbal, non-verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrate skills in MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite required.
- Demonstrate the ability to take direction, feedback, and desire to grow.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical activities may occasionally include: Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods of time. Adjusting or moving objects up to 40 pounds in all directions. Use of ladders using safety protocol/OSHA standards required.
- Physical activities may constantly include: Communicating with others to exchange information. Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers. Assessing the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.
