Senior Director of Accounting
The Senior Director of Accounting is responsible for overseeing the accounting department's daily operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and providing strategic financial guidance to the organization. This role involves managing financial close processes, maintaining a strong controls environment, and implementing accounting policies and procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee Core Accounting Operations: Manage the general accounting functions, including accounts payable, general ledger, revenue, inventory, fixed assets, leases, and treasury/debt.
- Monthly Close Process: Direct the monthly accounting close process globally for all legal entities, includes setting the calendar for deliverable, coordinating pre-close discussions and providing status updates throughout the process to key stakeholders.
- Financial Reporting: Provide required information and support schedules to the Financial Reporting team in preparation of quarterly and annual SEC reporting requirements.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards (US GAAP), develop and maintain internal controls (SOX), and adhere to local, state, and federal regulations.
- Analysis: Monitor and analyze monthly operating results against prior periods and prepare financial analysis as needed for key initiatives.
- Audit Relations: Maintain relationship with internal and external auditors and investigate their findings and recommendations.
- Team Management: Recruit, train, manage, and evaluate department staff with an emphasis on team development to scale the effectiveness of the organization.
- Policy Implementation: Establish and implement short and long-range departmental goals, objectives, policies, and operating procedures.
Qualifications and Attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting; MBA is a plus; CPA preferred.
- 15+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 8 years in a leadership role at a public company.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, and proficiency in accounting software (SAP, NetSuite, BPC).
- Proven ability to lead and manage a team effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to think strategically and provide financial insights to support business decisions.
